Alice Azak teaches GES students

On Monday September 17th, Division three walked across the suspension bridge to the lava beds. As part of a life sciences unit the students studied different types of organisms with the help of Alice Azak, a respected elder from Gitwinksihlkw. Alice shared her knowledge about the plant life in the area and she also shared some great stories about the history of Gitwinksihlkw.

Thank-you Alice for volunteering your time and for passing down your knowledge to the students of GES. It was a wonderful experience and we learned a lot!

What a gift for the students to walk with this lovely woman and learn about the land. I would imagine this to be a joy for any elder to share with the students and enjoy their energy and laughter!

I am glad to see the students learning what comes our land to help provide to us one way or another, and yes for one of our own elders to pass this on . What a great learning experience.
